Hi! I'm Bill Haagsma.
I'd like to tell you a few things about myself for those who don't already know me. I am the youngest of 4 children. My dad was a teacher at South Christian High School for over 35 years, and I have a brother who is a music teacher at Legacy Christian, so you could say that Christian school teaching is in my blood. I love what I do. I loved working at Calvin Christian Elementary for 21 years and at Calvin Christian Middle School the past two years. I think the middle school student is at a crucial time in development, and I look forward to pointing them to Christ through the classes I teach.
My wife, Susan, and I have three children, one at Calvin College, one at Calvin Christian High School, and the youngest is at Calvin Christian Middle School.
I love a variety of sports, but my favorites are basketball and golf. I also love to read and I enjoy fiddling around on computers (when they work properly).
I wanted to be an optometrist when I graduated from high school, but when I was going through orientation at Calvin College and I was asked if I knew what kind of course-work I planned to take, I told them "Education". I had no idea where that thought came from, but now I do. God wanted me to be a teacher, and I believe that was his calling for my life. The education of these students is a huge responsibility that I do not take lightly. I ask for your prayers as we undertake this task together.
